Julie a' buannachadh Seinneadair Folk na Bliadhna 2008 / Julie wins Folk Singer of the Year 2008

Bha Julie air a dòigh glan a bhith aig duaisean cliùteach Duaisean Folk BBC Rèidio 2 air Oidhche Luain aig an Old Brewery ann an Lunnainn. B' e oidhche air leth a bha ann le daoine ainmeil gu leòr, agus deagh cheòl bho Lau, The Imagined Village, Rachel Unthank agus Winterset, Graham Coxen agus John McCusker, Martin Simpson, Kate Rusby, John Martyn, Seth Lakeman agus an fheadhainn a fhuair an duais airson a' chòmhlain òg a b' fheàrr, Last Orders. Bha Julie gu sònraichte toilichte an duais aice fhèin fhaighinn bhon t-seinneadair agus bhon sgrìobhaiche òrain Albannach KT Tunstall, agus bha spòrs gu leòr eatorra cuideachd. Tha Julie airson taing a thoirt dhan h-uile duine a tha air taic a thoirt dhi agus a tha ag obair còmhla rithe agus a tha a' cur taic ris a' cheòl a' chionn 's gu bheil iad deìgheil air agus gu bheil gaol aca ann - taing cuideachd dhan h-uile uine air cùl gnothaich nach fhaic duine eile, agus dhan luchd-ciùil leis a bheil i cho fortanach a bhith ag obair - John McCusker, Duncan Chisholm, Tony Byrne, Ross Martin, Martin O'Neill, Ewen Vernal agus gu h-àraid dhan duine aice Eamon airson...uill, a h-uile rud.

Tha an duais seo air a tabhainn dhaibhsan uile a bhios a' toirt seachad òrain, sgeulachdan, puirt agus craic - dhaibhsan nach fhaigh urram duaise gu bràth, ach gun na daoine sin cha bhiodh am beartas de chultar, a tha sinn cho fortanach a bhith againn, againn idir.

Julie was thrilled to be presented with this prestigious award at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards on Monday night at the Old Brewery in London. It was an amazing night with celebs a-plenty, and great music from Lau, The Imagined Village, Rachel Unthank and the Winterset, Graham Coxon and John McCusker, Martin Simpson, Kate Rusby, John Martyn, Seth Lakeman and brilliant young award winning band Last Orders. Julie was especially delighted to receive her award from fellow Scot and songstress KT Tunstall, who was great company. You can see some great photos and clips from the night at the BBC website. Julie would like to thank all the folk who have given her a helping hand and work tirelessly and enthusiastically with her and who support the music because they love and believe in it - all the hard workers behind the scenes, and all the talented musicians who she is lucky enough to perform with - John McCusker, Duncan Chisholm, Tony Byrne, Ross Martin, Martin O'Neill, Ewen Vernal and especially her husband Eamon for...well everything.

The award is dedicated to all those who pass on the songs, the stories, the tunes and the craic - those who will never be recognised with an award, but without whom we would not have the wealth of culture that we are lucky to have.
