Julie’s ‘Heisgeir’ a Huge Hit at Celtic Connections!!

Julie and the band staged their ‘special’ performance of her unique and highly acclaimed, ‘Blas 2011’ Commission ‘Heisgeir’, to a highly appreciative ‘sell-out’ audience at the Mitchell Library in Glasgow, as part of the superb Celtic Connections Festival last night (Friday 27 January).

The audience, just as they were at the ‘Blas Festival’ last September, was full of nothing but positive feedback and praise for Julie and her highly talented fellow musicians, after the show; for both the performance and the technical production which includes amazing effects, atmospheric filming and absolutely beautiful music all of which transports the audience immediately to the Outer Hebrides.

This unique musical work combines newly composed and traditional material influenced by Heisgeir (or The Monach Isles as they are often referred to locally).  Building on her own family connections to Heisgeir, Julie has taken inspiration from the geography, history and legend of these now uninhabited islands to produce a new musical work.  Using lyrical, filmic, narrative and musical devices to bring different aspects of the work to life, ‘Heisgeir’ features acclaimed musicians Éamon Doorley, Ross Martin and Duncan Chisholm.

At the end of this amazing performance the crowd ‘demanded’ an encore and Julie took this opportunity to announce that she is planning to take ‘Heisgeir’ on Tour to several Hebridean Islands and possibly further afield, in the summer this year.   She said that further confirmed details of the Tour will be announced very soon!!!    Watch this space................
